Gerald P. Mallmann
1920 - 2006

Gerald P. Mallmann, 85, a resident of George Lake in Bristol, Wis., died quickly on Friday March 24, 2006 as
he was entering his home following an extended stay at the hospital.  He was 85 years old. The funeral
service was held at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday, March 28.

He was born in Chicago on November 28, 1920, to the late Peter Mallmann and Clara Schmidt. Soon
afterwards on Jan. 2, 1921 Gerald was born again of water and the Spirit and made an heir of eternal life in
the waters of Holy Baptism.  After careful instruction in the truths of God's Holy Gospel he confessed his faith
publicly in the rite of confirmation at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Bristol, WI.  He had been a member of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church all his life, confessing, with his fellow believers, his faith in our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.

In 1939, he graduated from Union Free High School in Wilmot, Wis. He worked at the Burgess Battery Corp in
Antioch Ill. until 1941 when he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country during World War II.

After returning from the war he wed AnnaJune "Mickey" Bauer, daughter of the late Martin and Anna Bauer,
on March 2, 1946, and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was employed with the Serum plant
in Woodworth, Wis. In 1950, he was reactivated into the Navy for the Korean conflict and served as an
instructor. After his second Honorable Discharge, Gerald worked for Dynamitic Corp. in Kenosha, Wis.

Gerald was a perpetual student, and attended UW-Madison, Wis. Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn.
and graduated with a B.S. from Carthage College Kenosha, Wis. He left a career in industry to answer the
call to serve the Lord as a Christian High School teacher. He taught sciences for 16 years at Fox Valley
Lutheran in Appleton, Wis. before returning to Kenosha County to teach another 15 years at Shoreland
Lutheran High school in Somers, Wis. Gerald was a man of many passions.

He was a founding member of the Lutheran Science Institute where he served in various capacities -- as
president, secretary, editor, and, at the time of his death, executive director. Gerald spent many summers
leading scientific tours throughout the US. He was an amateur paleontologist, taught Judo, loved to travel
and was an avid photographer.

Rangel of Kenosha; four sons, Darrow (Gwen) of Lake of the Woods Va., Jan (Lisa) of Hortonville, Wis.,

daughter-in-law, Kathleen Mallmann. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Weiss.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lutheran Science Institute, c/o Shoreland Lutheran High School, Friedens
Evangelical Lutheran Church or Shoreland Lutheran High School, P. O. Box 295, Somers, WI 53171 would
be appreciated by the family.

May God comfort all who mourn with his assurance of the forgiveness of sins won for us by Christ on the cross.
