Abortions Linked to
Mental Health Issues

Researcher Dr. Priscilla
Coleman of Bowling Green
State U. has discovered that
women who have an abortion
have nearly double the risk of
mental health problems as
women who give birth. The
study, which was published in
the British Journal of
Psychiatry, examined 22 other
studies which covered 877,00
women, 163,831 of which had
abortions. The study concluded
that abortion increases the risk
by 81% with 10% of the mental
health problems caused directly
by the procedure. The health
problems included anxiety,
depression, alcohol abuse, and
a 155% greater risk of suicide

Questions Surround
Planned Parenthood

The House Committee on
Oversight and Investigations is
looking into allegations of
financial disparities, misuse of
federal health care and family
planning funds, and failure to
report criminal child abuse
cases on the part of Planned
Parenthood. Also being
investigated are reports
Planned Parenthood assisted
those engaged in prostitution
and sex trafficking. The
abortion organization receives
more than $363 million in

Survival of the Less Fit
In the World of Bacteria

Researchers at the U. of Exeter
in the UK were surprised by the
results of a trial in which
bacteria were multiplied over
hundreds of generations.
According to a press release,
“it had been believed that the
genome of only the fittest
bacteria would be left, but that
wasn’t their finding.” Both fit
and unfit bacteria survived,
causing the researchers to
declare that a “new principle”
was discovered in that that both
fit and unfit can survive
indefinitely.—biosciences.exeter.

Vitamin E May Increase
Prostate Cancer Risk

Research published in the
Journal of the American
Medical Association shows that
men who took vitamin E over a
seven-year period were 17%
more likely to get prostate
cancer than those who took a
placebo. A previous study of
35,000 men was halted when
results showed no improvement.
“There is no reason for men in
the general population to take
the dose of vitamin E,” said Eric
Klein of the Cleveland Clinic.—

Teachers Skip Darwin
Some 60% of high school
biology teachers in the U. S.
are reluctant to endorse either
evolution or creation in their
classes, according to a recent
study.  Many teachers
apparently do so in order to
avoid controversy.  However,
one in ten biology teachers
advocate teaching creation or
intelligent design positively.—

Leading Flat Earther
Is an Evolutionist

Creationists are sometimes
dismissed by atheists as
nothing more than “flat
earthers.” But now Daniel
Shenton, the head of the
official Flat Earth Society, has
come out in support of
evolution and global warming
even as he and his supporters
continue to maintain that the
earth is a flat disc that one can
fall off of. Moreover, it has been
documented that Christian
scholars over many centuries
have stated their belief in a
spherical Earth. — www.

Bolivia Grants Rights to “
Mother Earth”

In January Bolivia enacted a
Law of the Rights of Mother
Earth which gives “bugs, trees
and all other natural things” the
same rights as people. A

complaints as voiced by activist
and other groups.—
